Did you know there are approximately 500 members on this Estate
Planning Partners listserv? Or that this list was established more than
a decade ago?
Kyle and I set up the listserv one afternoon when we realized that a
whole bunch of us were losing our ability to chat with one another about
the important issues of running an estate planning practice -- like
practice management, marketing, client service, and practice development
-- because of the "transformation" of another major entity. We made some
phone calls, invested some money (this was back in the day when a
"listserv" was high technology and not cheap!), launched this listserv
and invited everyone to join us, whether they were customers,
subscribers or not. We never charged for the service, but we have always
moderated the messages to eliminate spam and maintain civil discourse.
But then, I date myself, yes?
Throughout this week, I want to spark some "chatting" among the
members of this listserv about those very important topics -- the
business-side of being an estate or elder law attorney. The part that
keeps the office doors open, clients well-served, and groceries on the
table at home! Because the truth of the matter is that, you can know as
much about the law as anyone on the planet ... but if you do not have
clients to serve, and a fairly steady stream of good ones, your legal
knowledge won't really matter.
You do not have a practice if there is no one to "practice" on!
We hope you will post some of your daily practice development &
management questions on this listserv, and tap into the collective
knowledge and wisdom of nearly 500 of your colleagues as well as the
professionals on our staff. It is truly a vast resource, and it's
completely free!
